Orders & Payments
9 questionsOrdering is simple. Browse our coffee range, add items to your basket, and proceed to checkout. You can check out as a guest or create an account for faster future orders and order tracking.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Orders are confirmed instantly by email.
Because we roast all coffee to order, we begin the roasting process within 12–24 hours of receiving your order. After this point, we cannot make changes.
If you need to change something, email hello@beanandbrew.com immediately after ordering. We'll do our very best to accommodate changes before roasting begins.
First, check your spam or junk folder — confirmation emails occasionally end up there. Make sure to whitelist orders@beanandbrew.com to prevent this in future.
If there's nothing in spam, log into your account to check your order history. If the order appears there, it was placed successfully. If you're still unsure, contact us with your name and the email address used at checkout.
Yes! We offer a wholesale programme for cafés, restaurants, offices, and retailers. Volume discounts start at orders over 5kg and include dedicated account management, custom roasting options, and flexible billing.
Contact our wholesale team at wholesale@beanandbrew.com or call us to discuss your requirements.

Our Coffee
11 questionsWe source exclusively from small, family-run farms in some of the world's most celebrated growing regions. Our current origins include:
| Origin | Region | Altitude | Flavour Profile |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethiopia | Yirgacheffe | 1,800–2,200m | Floral, blueberry, jasmine |
| Guatemala | Huehuetenango | 1,500–1,900m | Brown sugar, stone fruit, silky |
| Colombia | Nariño | 2,000–2,300m | Bright citrus, caramel, clean |
| Brazil | Minas Gerais | 900–1,200m | Chocolate, nuts, low acidity |
| Kenya | Nyeri | 1,700–2,100m | Blackcurrant, tomato, wine |
We visit all of our partner farms annually and publish detailed farm profiles on our Journal.
We roast every order to order — meaning your beans are roasted after you place your order, not sitting in a warehouse for weeks. Most orders are roasted and dispatched within 24–48 hours of purchase.
Freshly roasted coffee actually needs 3–7 days to "degas" before it's at its peak. Espresso benefits from up to 14 days rest. So don't worry if your bag arrives needing a day or two — that's by design.
For the best flavour, we recommend consuming your coffee within these windows:
- Espresso blends: Best between days 7–30 after roast date
- Filter / pour-over: Best between days 3–21 after roast date
- Overall shelf life: Properly sealed, up to 3 months from roast date
Store in the sealed bag, away from heat, light, and moisture. Do not store in the fridge or freezer unless in an airtight container — condensation is coffee's enemy.
We operate a direct trade model, which we believe goes beyond what certification schemes alone can guarantee. We visit our farms in person, pay well above Fair Trade minimum prices, and invest directly in farm infrastructure and worker welfare.
Some of our partners do hold organic certification; however, many small farms practice organic methods without the cost and administrative burden of formal certification. We verify practices directly rather than relying solely on third-party labels.
Yes — while we strongly recommend whole beans for maximum freshness, we do offer pre-ground coffee. At checkout, select your preferred grind from:
- Espresso — fine, for espresso machines
- Aeropress / Moka Pot — medium-fine
- Pour-over / V60 — medium
- Cafetière / French Press — coarse
- Cold Brew — extra coarse
Pre-ground coffee begins losing flavour within days of grinding. For the best cup, we recommend investing in a burr grinder — see our Brew Guides for recommendations at every budget.
Brewing & Recipes
10 questionsWater temperature has a huge impact on extraction. Here are our recommended ranges by brew method:
| Method | Temperature | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Espresso (light roast) | 93–96°C | Higher temp for denser beans |
| Espresso (dark roast) | 88–91°C | Lower temp to avoid bitterness |
| Pour-over / V60 | 92–96°C | Just off the boil |
| French Press | 92–94°C | 30s off boil |
| Aeropress | 80–90°C | Experiment by taste |
| Cold Brew | Cold / room temp | 12–24 hours steep |
If you don't have a temperature-controlled kettle, a simple rule: boiling water = 100°C, let it sit 30 seconds ≈ 94°C, 1 minute ≈ 90°C.
The golden ratio for most brew methods is 1:15 to 1:17 (coffee to water by weight). Here's a quick reference:
- Espresso: 18–20g coffee → 36–40g liquid output
- Pour-over (1 cup): 15g coffee → 250ml water
- French Press (2 cups): 30g coffee → 500ml water
- Aeropress (1 cup): 15–18g coffee → 220ml water
- Cold Brew concentrate: 100g coffee → 800ml water
A kitchen scale that measures to 0.1g is the single best investment for improving your coffee. Eye-balling scoops introduces far more inconsistency than any grinder setting.
Bitterness in espresso is almost always a sign of over-extraction — too many bitter compounds have been pulled from the coffee. Common causes:
- Grind is too fine → water flows too slowly → over-extracts
- Brew temperature too high → extracts bitter compounds faster
- Shot ran too long (over 35 seconds)
- Coffee is stale (over 6 weeks from roast date)
- Uneven distribution or tamping causing channelling
Quick fix: Grind one click coarser and re-pull. If the shot now takes 25–30 seconds and tastes balanced, you've solved it. See our full guide in the Blog for a detailed walkthrough.
Significantly, yes. Water is 98% of your cup, so its mineral content profoundly affects extraction and flavour. The SCA recommends water with 75–150mg/L total dissolved solids (TDS).
- Too soft (low TDS): Flat, hollow taste — minerals are needed to bond with flavour compounds
- Too hard (high TDS): Chalky, muted flavour and limescale builds up in your machine
- Chlorinated tap water: Can add off-flavours — use a filter jug or let it stand overnight
Bottled mineral water with around 100mg/L TDS (e.g. Volvic or Ashbeck) consistently produces excellent results if your tap water is very hard or very soft.
